Silent Witness 沈黙の証人
Tenki Hiramatsu | Asami Shoji
The MENAEA Collection and Hugo Alcantara are proud to present Silent Witness, an exhibition of Asami Shoji and Tenki Hiramatsu’s paintings set in the historic Manshuin Temple, Kyoto. Located near Mount Hiei and with roots stretching as far back as the 8th century, Manshuin is an icon of early Shoin architecture. The artists explore a wide range of themes including passage of time, memory and layered existence - interacting with the ‘silent witnesses’ of the surroundings that have observed centuries of Kyoto’s multifaceted history. This exhibition honours Manshuin’s rich history as a center of cultural and artistic refinement, established in the Heian period. The artists’ works, known for blending traditional Japanese techniques with contemporary expression, resonate deeply with the temple’s timeless quality, offering a profound dialogue between past and present. This exhibition will also coincide with Puentes Malos at Keishun-in Temple. This exhibition is open to the public everyday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
